Preston is Caprin's Senior Consultant for Cash Management.  Before coming to Caprin, Preston was Director of Cash Management at Parata Capital Management, where he founded the firm's short term fixed income department and managed cash reserves for localities throughout Virginia.  He has spent much of his investment career serving the Virginia public sector.  Prior to joining Parata, he was Managing Director and Director of Cash Management at Wheat First Securities/First Union Securities, where he headed a team of six individuals respnsible for manging $12 billion, including the Virginia SNAP portfolio.  Before that, Preston spent 16 years at Crestar/SunTrust Bank (Capitoline Investment Services), pioneering the development of one of Virginia's first active cash management programs.  Throughout his career, Preston has maintained a sharp focus on personal service to client, achieving superior performance, and establishing long-term relationships.

Preston earned his Bachelor of Science in Economics from the University of Richmond and his Master of Business Administration in Finance from the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania.  He was awarded the Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA ™) designation in 1969, and is a member of the CFA Institute.

Preston has been active in tennis for much of his life, playing in and directing a number of major local tournaments, and is a past board member of the Briarwood Swim & Racquet (now Riverside Wellness & Fitness Center).  He is also a Civil War hobbyist and a member of several Civil War organizations.  A collector and part-time dealer in Civil War artifacts, he has written two historical novels centering on that period of history.
